Nuclear Power Prospective for Transition and Energy Security in Colombia
- Viability Studies

Nuclear energy could be a game changer for this country. The country`s main source of energy is hydroelectricity, which can supply almost half or more of the electricity consumed in the country. Most of the energy consumed is generated from non-renewable sources such as coal and gas. Adding nuclear power could improve the country's energy situation and even help solve problems that may recur in the future. These cycles affect weather conditions, which also affect the reservoirs of various dams across the country. If the reservoir gets too low, blackouts like in 1992 can occur.
